Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) and Chris Watson (born in Paris). When she was five, she moved to Oxfordshire to attend The Dragon School. Emma always had the desire to become an actor since she was aged six. She studied at Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Oxford which is an acting academy with part-time courses. She had already performed in numerous Stagecoach as well as school plays when she was ten years old. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel began casting in 1999. Emma was identified by casting agents via Emma's Oxford theater teacher. David Heyman told Emma along together with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after having eight consecutive auditions. Emma's first appearance on the big screen was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone which was released in 2001. It was also the most successful film in 2001. Opening weekend and day sales were record-breaking. The film has been praised by critics for its film as well as the performance of the three young actors. The well-known British newspaper The Daily Telegraph called her performances admirable. Then Emma was shortlisted for five awards for her role in the film winning an award called the Young Artist Award for Leading Young Actress in a Feature Film.
